Swearing in
Yesterday May 28, 2008, Nathan was sworn in to the United States Navy. It was very hard to let him go. The night before, Eddie, Ben, Cameron and I took him up to stay at a hotel. We went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then dropped him off at 8:00. There were kids there that were going too and they looked so young! We were the only parents/family that seemed to be there. After dropping him off we drove back home. We took Ben to his car and then went home with Cameron. He ate pop corn and watched Blue's Clues and got into bed around 11:30. WAY later than he is used to. We got up early yesterday and left the house by about 8. We arrived at Fort Ben around 9. It was a long wait and a lot of organized activity before he boarded the bus to leave at around noon. We followed the bus as far as we could and Cameron was yelling "have a nice trip" the entire way. That evening I received a phone call from Nathan letting me know they had gotten there ok. He was allowed 2 minutes on the phone and he told me then not to expect to hear from him again for 2 to 3 weeks. For everyone reading this let me ask please pray for his health and safety. He plans to be in the Navy for 5 years.

Going away cook out
Yesterday we had a going away party for my son Nathan. He leaves on Tuesday for the Navy. We had lots of good food, familyand friends.
He hopes to finish his schooling and become a doctor or be in intellegence.
It will be one of the hardest things I have ever had to do letting him go.
We will all have to trust in the Lord for his safety and wellbeing.
I will update with everything I know from time to time.

I got it!!
Yesterday I read my first "blog". Today I decided to join the group! I am a 52 year old woman living in Columbus, Indiana. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 25 years this December. We have had our hard times believe me but we have worked hard to overcome the bad with the good and right now things couldn't be better! My family is the world to me. I thank God every day to have such a wonderful family! My daughter is 29 and married. She and her husband have two beautiful children. A daughter 3 1/2 and a son 7 mths. My eldest son is 28 and not yet married nor has any children. My next is also a son. He is 23, has never been married and has a son 2 1/2. My youngest is 20, also not married and has no children.
I found out at the end of last year that I have diabetes II. I vowed then to change my lifestyle and try to keep in under control with diet and exercise. So far I have lost 32.5 lbs and exercise at least 3 times a week. I have a ways to go before I will reach my goal weight but I have been able to keep my sugars down and will hopefully be able to go off of the medicine I had to start in November.
